Frequently Asked Questions:

  • I’ll do pretty much anything that is lawful in the selected location, safe for everyone involved, ethical, and based on a genuine desire to be married.

  • My authority to officiate is by virtue of being a Humanist Celebrant. Humanism is a rational philosophy informed by science, inspired by art, and motivated by compassion. I regularly perform both theistic and nontheistic ceremonies, but I’m not qualified to act as a minister of any specific faith.

  • I’m also thrilled to lead vow renewals, group commitments, separations, and supportive celebrations of any other life stage.

  • Once we set a date, I’ll stay in contact with you as much as my day job allows. Email is a great way to reach me during planning, but text is better within 48 hours of your big moment. I’m also happy to set up phone or video calls with you.

  • Here’s the call to action: submit an interest form so I can confirm my availability. Or, if you need more of a concierge service, book me through Simply Eloped.

Once we’ve set a date, I’ll ask you to complete my super-short new client form. If you’d rather not, that’s okay! We can also collaborate via email, text, phone, video call, or a combination.

I’ll draft your script and send it to you for review, usually at least a week ahead of the ceremony. You’re welcome to make comments, suggest edits, or even ask me to start over. It’s not once and done, like approving a proof–we can collaborate until it feels right to you.

  • I’ll meet you at the venue 15-30 minutes before your ceremony. We can look at the script one more time or just smile and breathe.

After the ceremony, I’ll make sure the marriage license is properly witnessed, then complete my portions and return it to the courthouse that issued it.

  • Are you a nerd? Into fandoms, alternative religious practices, or cosplay? You’re welcome here, and I’m happy to learn new things.

  • My core service is to write your script, officiate your ceremony, and file your marriage license with the appropriate county courthouse. I’ll get to know you, as much as you’re comfortable with, to make your script personal and unique.
